We are looking for a creative and dynamic Senior Development Manager to join us here at South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. Joining the Education, Skills and Employability team within the Growth, Business and Skills Directorate on a permanent basis, you will take a leading role in the development and delivery of the organisation’s approach to the Adult Skills, including Skills Bootcamps and the Adult Skills Fund (ASF). This work is aimed at driving up skills in response to the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority Skills Strategy whilst continually adapting approaches as demand from employers evolves in line with growth ambitions, technological change, and a commitment to Net Zero. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Working across funding streams within the Skills System in South Yorkshire, we are seeking forward-thinking individuals with substantial experience in leading or managing programme design, development, and commissioning—particularly in adult skills. Ideally, candidates will also have experience working in a public sector environment and facilitating broader local and regional partner engagement to shape, develop, and influence the implementation of programmes that deliver the skills needed for progression, productivity, and inclusive growth. You will have experience working across local systems to facilitate learning and change, and to maximise referrals into commissioned programmes. Strong communication skills are essential, along with a proven track record of developing complex, multi-dimensional projects, services, or initiatives to a high standard. This includes experience in developing risk plans, value management, and cost control.
