School Caretaker - Primary School

Monarch Education is working on behalf of a friendly and welcoming primary school in Birmingham seeking a reliable and experienced School Caretaker to join their team from September 2025. This full-time role is ideal for someone with previous caretaking experience in a school setting, committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment.
Job Responsibilities
* Opening and securing the school site, including setting alarms and conducting routine security checks.
* Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs inside and outside the school building.
* Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting, and plumbing systems, and reporting larger issues.
* Completing and recording health and safety checks in accordance with school policy.
* Managing the cleanliness and tidiness of school grounds, including basic gardening and grounds upkeep.
* Assisting with setting up rooms for school events or activities, including moving furniture and equipment.
* Liaising with external contractors and ensuring compliance with site regulations and safeguarding policies.
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Caretaker or Site Manager in a school or similar environment.
* Practical skills in plumbing, decorating, joinery, and general maintenance tasks.
* Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and security procedures.
* Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* A reliable, proactive, and trustworthy work approach.
* A valid enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
