About East Coast College: with campuses in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, offering a diverse range of subjects and professional training for school leavers and adults up to degree level. Governors support, challenge, and help the College achieve its strategic objectives. Board experience is not required—your skills, experience, and enthusiasm for our goals and values are what matter most. Time Commitment: Meetings are usually a couple of hours on Tuesday mornings. We have 5 Full Board meetings, 4 Committee meetings, and 1 Full Away Day each year, with a minimum attendance target of 80%. Associate Governor: If you can’t commit to a full governor role, bring your specialist knowledge to one of our committees (People, Finance, Quality) with about 4 meetings a year. Associate Governor roles are also a great path to develop as a Governor. We are particularly looking for those with experience in safeguarding, learner voice, and financial (qualified accountant). Annual Commitment: Beyond meetings, Governors participate in Learning Walks, celebrations, and meetings with staff and students. Strategic planning, self-assessment and review of the College, Corporation, yourself, and the Chair. Training sessions and reading briefing documents. Providing feedback and suggesting improvements. Acting as advocates for the College in the community. Our values: Aspirational, Respectful, Professional, Successful.
