The Role
The Department of Computer Science wishes to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Computer Science. The post-holder will contribute to teaching and administration in the department.
Appointments are normally made within 4 - 8 weeks of the closing date.
What you’ll do
* To undertake teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including teaching through the medium of Welsh.
* To complete administrative tasks related to teaching and research.
* To contribute to course and subject development.
* To support and assist students and contribute to an excellent student experience.
* To become Fellow or Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (based on previous teaching experience) or obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, unless an appropriate equivalent qualification has already been obtained.
* To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

* Engage in university-level projects and initiatives as directed, and undertake any additional duties commensurate with the role, as assigned by the line manager.
For Grades 8, Additional Duties Include
* To lead modules and co-ordinate the work of staff.
* Identify ways of improving and enhancing the modules and student experience.

Essential
* PhD in a relevant subject or very close to completion
* Experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate classes in Computer Science
* Broad knowledge and understanding of Computer Science to support teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
* Ability to carry out day-to-day administrative tasks conscientiously and efficiently
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Commitment to the Department and Aberystwyth University as centres of excellence in teaching and research
* Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B2
