About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Study Skills Lecturer to work closely with subject lecturers to design and teach study skills across HE programmes from Foundation to Masters level within our BSU, UoS and OBU partnerships. You will develop courses, deliver workshops and provide individual and group support to enhance student learning.
Responsibilities
* Design bespoke study skills courses, digital resources and workshop plans.
* Deliver teaching sessions, assess learning and identify opportunities to improve quality of student experience.
* Provide feedback on academic writing and other study skills, including tutorial consultations.
* Record outcomes for evaluation and quality assurance and refer students to additional services.
* Engage with online learning environments and research resources to support student learning.
* Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
* Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
* Track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.
* Experience providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs.
* Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development, such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, project and dissertation support, peer-assisted learning.
* High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
Desirable
* Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development.
* DELTA qualification.
* Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
