Overview

This role is located in NRM within the Cawood Scientific Agriculture Division. It involves fresh preparation and grinding of fresh Environmental Waste soil samples, weighing and managing batches of IBA samples, distributing sample extracts and lab sheets, as well as preparing and analysing Digestate samples within a busy laboratory environment.


Responsibilities

* Fresh preparation and grinding of fresh Environmental Waste soil samples (experience with Retsch grinders and shatterbox preferred; full training provided).
* Weighing and locating batches of pre‑prepared IBA samples.
* Distributing sample extracts and lab sheets/job sheets.
* Sorting and grinding of fresh IBA/APCR samples.
* Calculating and recording the dry matter percentage of environmental soils, IBA/APCR samples and Digestate samples.
* Preparing Digestate samples.
* Rotating and disposing of soil, slurry extracts and samples.
* Unloading and moving heavy batches of soil and IBA samples around the Environmental Department.
* Assisting with general preparation tasks within the Environmental Prep Team as workload requires.
* Understanding and following standard operating procedures.
* Maintaining equipment, vehicles and personal protective equipment in good condition to represent Cawood positively.
* Reporting any damage or maintenance issues to management promptly.
* Working as a team, maintaining morale and offering assistance wherever possible.
* Ensuring safety by reporting accidents and near‑misses to managers in line with company policy.
* Assisting with on‑site training of new employees and ensuring their onboarding is friendly, engaging and inspiring.
