Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Casual Caretaker to provide essential cover to undertake tasks relating to the general maintenance and cleaning of the Town Council's facilities and to assist with the set-up and clear down of tables for functions and events.
Responsibilities
* To ensure the safe use of work equipment when deemed trained and competent.
* Maintaining and restocking cleaning supplies and toiletries (hand wash, toilet paper, paper towels etc.)
* To familiarise COSHH requirements for cleaning products in compliance with regulations.
* To conduct monthly disinfection and deep cleaning in the designated areas as required.
* To ensure high standards of hygiene in kitchens and toilets.
* Carry out dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping surfaces in the Town Council facilities work areas.
* Clearing weeds and leaves from communal areas and gardens
* Taking out the waste ensuring recycling materials are separated as required.
* Ensuring all floors and stairs are free from obstruction.
* Set-up of rooms made available to hire in accordance with the health and safety and manual handling requirement.
* To liaise with Hall and Room Hirers as required or in conjunction with the Grove Hall Co-Ordinators.
* Ensure any items requiring cleaning for room hire are washed and made available promptly.
* To assist with Town Council events as required.
* To support Council / community and volunteer groups undertaking practical activities and tasks on the ground.
* To ensure that any equipment provided by the Council is kept clean.
* To carry out basic facilities room renovation.
* Gritting footpaths and entrances during icy weather.
* To be responsible for ensuring adherence to the Council's adopted Policies.
* To ensure the building is secured, including windows, when not in use and any alarms are set.
* To ensure that at the end of the day electrical appliances, as directed are, where appropriate/necessary, switched off and unplugged and that no combustible material is left at risk and to ensure the building is secured.
* To liaise with Council contractors as required.
* To promote a positive image of the Town Council at all times and to maximise opportunities for positive public engagement with the Council.
* To undertake maintenance and painting as and when required
* To report any damage or defects to the Grove Hall Co-Ordinator, Facilities Caretaker or Town Clerk / Council office.
* To provide additional cover at other council facilities to cover staff when they are on leave, sick or attending training courses and at any other time as and when requested by the Grove Hall Co-Ordinator or Town Clerk.
Skills
* Proficient in English with strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents and their families.
* Excellent customer service skills to provide a supportive and friendly environment.
* Valid driving licence with the ability to transport residents safely when required.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with service users and the public.
