Senior Mechanical Engineer – Leeds Oncology – EQUANS

EQUANS are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on our Leeds Oncology contract. This role is a permanent full‑time role, 40 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.


Job Overview

Work alongside a dynamic maintenance team to deliver the required services, ensuring the hospital is maintained to the highest standard. Provide a customer‑facing, highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing and undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks to a very high standard. Provide technical guidance, assist other team members, carry out training for Authorised Person duties, and manage multi‑skilling and flexibility. Report to the maintenance supervisor and provide progress reports.


Responsibilities

* Deliver maintenance services within the 30‑year concession agreement until 2037.
* Support colleagues, perform maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures.
* Provide cover for absent colleagues to maintain service continuity.
* Conduct duties in accordance with safe working practices and NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
* Maintain, service and repair a wide range of building services: heating, domestic water, general electrical, air handling units, low voltage distribution, emergency standby generating plant, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, electrical control systems, building management system, plant rooms including steam pipes.
* Maintain records, complete service reports and provide regular progress reports to line manager.
* Occasionally carry out installation work for minor upgrading and adaptation works.
* Assist other skilled trades with maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation.
* Undertake training to maintain and develop skills in line with service requirements.
* Act as competent or authorised person as directed and appointed.
* Liaise and undertake duties at other healthcare projects as directed.
* Undertake overtime as required to maintain the service.
* Carry out any other duties as required commensurate with grade.


Qualifications

* Qualified time served engineer with minimum 3 years post‑apprenticeship experience.
* Healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
* Cross‑trade experience advantageous.
