The advertised post is for a full-time Substantive Consultant in the Department of Immunology at Barts Health NHS Trust. The post provides the opportunity to work in one of the largest Immunology departments in the country.
Responsibilities:
* Weekly Adult Immunology Clinic
* Support the day case unit and participate in the assessment and management of a wide range of patients with immunological disease
* Lead consultant for subspecialty clinic and associated portfolio of clinical trials if applicable
* Provide clinical liaison with other specialties for outpatient and in‑patient care for patients with immunological conditions
* Support the home care programmes and provide advice over the telephone
* Participate in the laboratory rota for clinical authorisation and commenting and interpretation of laboratory results
* Provide ward consultation and advice to other specialties
* Contribute to external SLA support
Other clinical links and joint clinics may be developed according to the needs of the service and the post holder’s expertise. The post holder will support the relevant specialty lead(s) in the management of the Immunology service. Responsibilities will be reviewed and negotiated with colleagues, and disputes will be mediated by the Lead Clinician. Compliance with good clinical governance, national medical recertification requirements and DBS checks is expected.
