Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual eager to enter the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
We are seeking Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a vital role in AFC Wimbledon Women’s long-term vision.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s players from the 1st team, with occasional involvement with pathway players.
The role requires flexible working hours, including weekend matches, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals passionate about football. Internal CPD opportunities are available, and staying current with literature, scope of practice, and practical skills improvement is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players before games
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records and upload them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, the strength and conditioning team, and players regarding injuries and availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with club policies, including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications and requirements:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* Current EMFA qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehabilitation planning
* Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* The ability to play or participate in football at a high level
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
