Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist – Echocardiography
Hours: 37.5 per week (4‑day week Monday‑Friday). Fixed term for 12 months.
Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum. Closing date: 27 April 2026.
Role Overview
This role is for a BSE accredited reporting sonographer who will work alongside the Lead Echocardiographer to provide comprehensive transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography services.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms, including urgent portable scans, to a high standard in accordance with BSE guidelines and department standards.
* Identify when transthoracic echocardiography is insufficient and proactively suggest alternative/additional investigations.
* Produce accurate and comprehensive reports for each study, managing a personal caseload.
* Supervise junior staff workload, ensuring minimum data sets are obtained and standards are regularly audited.
* Provide clinical technical assistance with transoesophageal echo.
* Adhere to cleaning protocols for TOE probes.
Qualifications
* BSE accredited reporting sonographer.
* Experience in adult transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography.
* Strong knowledge of BSE guidelines and department standards.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise junior staff and maintain high clinical practice standards.
