We are excited to advertise this newly established post, for an experienced clinical pharmacist with an interest and desire to improve the health and wellbeing of patients accessing sexual health services in Lothian.
Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health (LSRH) Service provides comprehensive, inclusive sexual health services from the Chalmers Centre and 10 local clinics across the Lothians, providing around 70,000 patient care episodes per annum. The service is hosted by the East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership on behalf of the 4 Lothian HSCPs. The range of services we provide includes abortion care, behaviour change, contraception, gender services, gynaecology, genitourinary medicine, genital skins, outpatient HIV care, menopause, PrEP provision, psychology services, psychosexual clinic, STI management and vasectomy, as well as many other sub-specialist clinics and prevention and health improvement activities. We also provide extensive specialist and outreach services for groups including young people (through Healthy Respect and HR+), vulnerable adults and children, gay, bisexual and men-who-have-sex-with-men (GBMSM; ROAMand GB+ Clinic) and women experiencing homelessness, using Recovery Hubs, involved in prostitution, exiting the criminal justice system and leaving care (WISHES).
LSRHS research activities include a wide portfolio of clinical trials and health services research that has attracted funding from public bodies, governmental organisations and industry.
You would invited to join the Clinical Multi-disciplinary team which meets regularly on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
HIV clinical care in Lothian is provided jointly through Chalmers and the regional infectious diseases unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, each with a cohort of around 900 patients under outpatient care. There is an already established Advanced/Lead Clinical Pharmacist post responsible for the delivery of the HIV and Viral Hepatitis service.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
1. Support the pharmaceutical care of patients accessing the service, including antimicrobial stewardship, high risk prescribing monitoring, optimisation of therapy and supporting what matters to patients through counselling on medication choices.
2. Lead a programme of effective medicines management and medicines governance.
3. Collaborate with senior healthcare staff across disciplines to ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care.
4. Deliver specialist education and training across disciplines, including to community pharmacy colleagues.

About You
To excel in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications and Competencies
10. A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
11. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
12. An Independent Prescribing Qualification.
13. Completed Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or Masters of Science (MSc) in Clinical Pharmacy or be able to demonstrate competence to the level of the

Candidates who have not completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy must demonstrate substantial progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum through:Engagement with the RPS Core Advanced CurriculumActive participation in a community of practice/peer networkSubmit a screenshot of portfolio (programme of learning page)Complete the to assess progress with the Core Advanced Curriculum and any gaps that will need addressed as part of PDP plans
15. Candidates who have completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy should complete the learning needs analysis (LNA) using the LNA tool in the RPS e-portfolio, identifying any gaps that will need addressed as part of PDP plans.
