Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) Central and Wessex region are lookingfor a dynamic, organised, and efficient Band 5 Practice Nurse whowill be working within our Primary Health Care team at Halton Medical Centre.


Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will work as partof a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team, leading the delivery of primaryhealthcare nursing including elements of occupational health.

Due to the nature of the business, it would bebeneficial if you have prior experience of primary care. Please see theattached Job Description and Person Specification for more information.

We are searching for someone who is able towork unsupervised, providing high-quality nursing care to the medical facilitypopulation at risk holding an individual case load, and through consultationidentify, assess, and manage the care of patients with complex health needs,minor injuries, minor illnesses, and specific diseases within their level ofcompetence.

Manyof our practices are networked and linked to provide support to each other. Onoccasion within your planned working schedule, you may be requested to work atthe linked practice site. In these situations, travel time and cost will beallowed for.

Training and Preceptorship will be provided todevelop your skills and knowledge to work effectively in our teams.

Job responsibilities

Asthe successful candidate your duties include but are not limited to:

Providing specialist high-qualityperson-centred primary care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity usinghigh quality clinical knowledge that is evidence based, with use of corehealthcare guidelines.

Being responsible for the delivery ofappropriate treatment, screening, and advice to patients within theirprofessional competence and in accordance with (DPHC) clinical guidelines andprotocols

Providing safe, evidence-based, efficient,and individualised patient care

Undertaking preventative healthprogrammes such as travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry.

Undertaking technical nursingtreatments and procedures for patients complex/specialist healthcare needs (e.g.,wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Cytology, Audiometry,Ear Care)

Providing specialist advice andsupport to patients, their families and other healthcare professionalsfollowing assessment, diagnosis and through treatment

The Interview willconsist of a Mix of direct questions and Clinical Situation based Scenarios.

To be eligible to be considered for this role,qualifications and memberships detailed must be held in full, prior tosubmitting your application.

The successful candidate will be required toprovide evidence of the following:

Professional/clinical knowledgeacquired through training to degree/diploma level.

Registered Nursewith live registration on Part 1 Subsection 1 (RN1/RN(A)) of the UK NMC register.

Applicants with NMC PIN in Progress (NMC PiP)

As part of the MOD standard pre-employment checksproof of NMC Registration and PIN number is required. Applicants who candemonstrate that they have successfully completed their Nursing Degree (Adult)Level 6 or Nursing Diploma (Adult) Level 5; but are awaiting their PIN numberare eligible to apply for this post.

If successful applicant(s) will start as apre-registered nurse AfC Band 3 until NMC Registration is confirmed andreceived. One receipt of PIN pay will be adjusted to AfC Band 5. Please notethe salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Successful candidates must meet thesecurity requirements before they can be appointed. The level of securityneeded is security check.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met byour uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required byour patients when based at home.

Person Specification

Qualifications

* Registered Nurse on sub-Part 1 (RN1/RN(A)) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register.
* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS) Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult) depending on population at risk) or willingness to undertake training.
* To be proficient in relevant Information Technology (IT) systems subject to appropriate training being provided.
* Willingness to undertake specific training to fulfil competency for role (e.g., audiometry, ear care, minor illness/injury, physical assessment, and history taking, travel health) and DPHC/MOD training as appropriate.
