Primary School Teaching Assistant - Gosport (PO12). Prospero Teaching is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school based in Gosport (PO12), who are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a class-based role supporting pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you\'ll work closely with the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day—helping them feel confident, safe, and ready to learn.
Daily Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils with learning and social skills
* Encourage positive behaviour and help children build friendships
* Support emotional wellbeing and help remove barriers to learning
* Work flexibly across different classes and follow a daily timetable
* Use initiative to ensure all learners achieve the best outcomes
Who We\'re Looking For
* Patient, caring, and a strong team player
* GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (grade C or level 4)
* Experience is helpful but not essential-training and support will be provided
* Calm and positive approach to supporting children with a range of needs
* Empathetic understanding of behaviour and emotional development
* Willingness to undergo training, including support for children with medical needs
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
Key Details
* Working Hours: 8:15 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday
* Term-Time Only: 39 weeks per year
* Starting Pay: £13.96 per hour
* Location: Mainstream primary school in Gosport (PO12)
* Contract Type: Ongoing position
