Senior Cardiac Physiologist – Truro, England, United Kingdom
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join the cardiac department at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in Truro. The role involves delivering a wide range of non‑invasive and invasive cardiac investigations, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services, and contributing to the development of physiologist‑led services.
Job Summary
The position is full‑time (37.5 hours per week) with on‑call duty. The successful candidate will work across the cardiac diagnostic suite, participate in the rota, and provide high‑quality patient care while maintaining professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Perform non‑invasive investigations including exercise tolerance testing, HUTT, and Holter monitoring.
* Participate in invasive procedures such as device implantation, pacing, and catheter laboratory work.
* Provide specialist interpretation of cardiac physiological tests and contribute to case reviews.
* Take responsibility for administrative duties, including patient record maintenance and service reporting.
* Engage in service design and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
* Attend scheduled on‑call duties and support the cardiac team during emergencies.
Qualifications – Essential
* BSc in Clinical Physiology (cardiology) or equivalent.
* ILS or ALS certification.
* Professional registration with the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS/BSE/C).
* Extensive experience in cardiac physiology and familiarity with a range of diagnostic procedures.
* Substantial hands‑on experience in a cardiac physiology setting.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Specialist accreditation (e.g., BSE, HRUK pacing exam).
* Experience in echo, cath‑lab, and pacing.
* Additional accredited modules or formally assessed skill sets.
* Ability to lead administrative duties and demonstrate organisational initiative.
Salary & Band
Band 6 – £38,682 to £46,580 per annum pro‑rata.
Contract & Working Pattern
Permanent, full‑time (37.5 hours/week) with compressed hours and on‑call commitment.
