Our community volunteers will be based outside the hospital; the role will be based in Huyton, Kirkby and Whiston.
This role is particularly suitable for ex‑cardiac rehabilitation patients and/or their carers who can be recruited as volunteers and receive training to support their role as cardiac buddies.
Responsibilities
* To greet patients and visitors on arrival and direct them to the cardiac rehabilitation clinic if required, escort them to their destinations across the site.
* Provide assistance to anyone who may need support in the community setting.
* Welcome patients to community clinics and ensure they are aware of the location of the facilities, e.g., toilet facilities.
* Interact with patients and family members in cardiac rehabilitation clinics and help prepare them for the clinic/session, especially for those who are particularly anxious about attending for the first time.
* Act as a Buddy/Befriending/chatting with patients.
* Make drinks for patients and visitors and wash/ tidy away used crockery/cutlery.
* Engage with patients and service users following consultation to gain feedback via the FFT and provide both paper and digital patient audit questionnaires when required.
* Provide an escort service to the entrance of community venues for patients who are awaiting transport and may require/would benefit from assistance.
