We arelooking for an experienced and motivated Phlebotomist to join our friendly GPsurgery team. The role involves providing high-quality phlebotomy services forour patients in a supportive and well-organised environment.
The idealcandidate will have previous experience in a health care or clinical setting,excellent communication skills, and a patient-centred approach.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
 * Perform venepuncture on patients in line with clinical guidance and infection control standards.
 * Ensure samples are correctly labelled, recorded, and prepared for collection by the laboratory.
 * Accurately update patient records on the clinical system (EMIS).
 * Maintain equipment, stock levels, and cleanliness of the phlebotomy area.
 * Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
 * Provide reassurance and information to patients, ensuring dignity, privacy, and comfort at all times.
 * Report any abnormal findings, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate clinician or manager.
 * Adhere to all practice policies, including infection control, health and safety, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

The team consists of 4 GPs, a nurse practitioner, 2 practice nurses, an HCA, 2 GPAs, administrators and care navigators.
Job responsibilities
To provide a high-quality andefficient phlebotomy service to patients registered at the practice, supportingthe clinical team in the delivery of safe and effective care. The postholderwill work independently to collect blood samples from patients, ensuringaccurate labelling, recording, and timely dispatch of specimens to supportdiagnosis and ongoing clinical care.

Knowledge and Skills
 * Understanding of infection prevention and control procedures.
 * Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
 * Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
 * Ability to prioritise workload and manage own tasks.
 * Basic IT and keyboard skills.
 * Attention to detail and accuracy in labelling, documentation, and record-keeping.
 * Knowledge of NHS laboratory procedures and specimen handling.
 * Awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Experience
 * Experience in performing venepuncture on adults.
 * Experience maintaining accurate records and following clinical protocols.
 * Experience communicating with patients in a caring and professional manner.
 * Previous experience in a GP practice or NHS/community healthcare setting.
 * Experience using EMIS or similar clinical IT systems.
Qualifications
 * Accredited phlebotomy qualification or equivalent competency-based training.
 * Evidence of up-to-date training and continued professional development.
 * Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
 * Infection control training.
