Role Overview
We are seeking a Materials Lab Support Technician to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Materials Laboratory. Working closely with the Materials Engineer, you will support testing, analysis, and general laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and maintain analytical laboratory instruments
* Conduct routine chemical, mechanical, and thermal testing, recording accurate results
* Perform visual inspection of product samples, identifying defects and recording dimensional data
* Carry out basic calculations (e.g. concentrations, percentage deviation) and compile data reports
* Manage laboratory consumables, including stock control, distribution, and rotation
* Set up, dismantle, clean, and store laboratory apparatus and glassware
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-conscious laboratory environment
* Perform and record routine calibration checks on equipment (daily/weekly)
* Identify and report non-conformances, supporting investigations and corrective actions
* Liaise with internal stakeholders to prioritise testing requirements
* Support experimental design and data interpretation under senior guidance

Essential Skills & Experience:
* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
* Basic knowledge of chemical testing processes
* Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accurately
* Basic problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor issues
* Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
