Job Summary
Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in General Internal Medicine and Cardiology to work within our Adult Medicine department, based at Tameside General Hospital. The post is within the Cardiology department and the main activities include outpatient clinics, diagnostic tests, ward rounds and on‑calls for general internal medicine. The successful applicant will work alongside a team of 6 highly experienced consultants, 4 experienced middle‑grades and a Deanery Specialty Doctor.
Responsibilities
* Participate in various outpatient activities, including the medical management of patients attending outpatient clinics.
* Ensure the effective organisation of the ward, including diagnosis and treatment of all patients.
* Handle appropriate discharge of patients, including providing timely paperwork to General Practitioners to ensure continuity of care.
* Provide direct clinical supervision and training of Ward Junior Medical Staff, and organise and delegate clinical tasks.
* Monitor the quality of service provided by the Cardiology department, including clinical audits.
* Actively participate in various committees and working groups.
* Contribute to the development of medical treatment protocols.
* Provide professional supervision under Consultant guidance to encourage the development of all doctors within the Emergency Services and Critical Care.
* Contribute to the provision of reports for the Coroner, Police Statements and Complaint management, adhering to time limits.
* Demonstrate involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Governance.
* Collaborate with Clinical teams to improve patient care.
* Take responsibility for own clinical professional development and participate in the Trust‑wide appraisal system.
* Comply with data protection and all relevant Trust Policies.
* Undertake regular on‑call duties for acute medical on‑call.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience as a speciality trainee (or equivalent competencies).
* GMC registration and licence to practise.
* MRCP Part 1.
* ACLS (or equivalent).
* ALS (or equivalent).
Desirable
* MRCP Part 2.
Skills
* IT skills, decision making and ability to show initiative.
* Effective communication and teamwork with ability to prioritise workload.
* Broad experience in cardiology.
Desirable Skills
* Evidence of attendance at 'Teaching for Teachers' or a similar course.
Experience
* Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Desirable Experience
* Experience in audit.
