Summary of Position
The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Plymouth State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Criminology/Criminal Justice, establish and maintain a research agenda, advise students, and contribute to discipline and university service. Candidates with research and teaching experience in the area of Corrections are encouraged to apply. A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice or a related discipline is required. ABD candidates expecting to complete their degree prior to appointment will be considered.
Responsibilities
* Teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate Criminology/Criminal Justice courses.
* Establish and maintain an active research program and scholarly agenda.
* Advise and mentor students; participate in department and university service.
* Collaborate with colleagues and participate in interdisciplinary and program initiatives.
Qualifications
* PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline.
* ABD will be considered; must expect to complete degree prior to or by appointment.
* Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching with evidence of effective pedagogy.
* Skills in academic advising and mentoring; evidence of an active research agenda.
* Innovative, student-centered, with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ability to teach multiple core courses in criminology and criminal justice programs.
* Expertise in Corrections; demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines and with external partners.
* Experience integrating technology into the classroom to enhance student learning.
