Graduate Learning Support Assistant – Specialist SEN School | Birmingham

Consistent Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (no evenings, weekends, or split shifts)

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Education Support Assistant, you will support students from ages 4–19, helping them learn, communicate, and thrive in a school environment tailored to their individual needs.

Your role will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with ASD and other learning needs

Assisting with differentiated lessons, ensuring activities are accessible, engaging, and meaningful

Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction

Helping create a calm, structured, inclusive classroom environment

Supporting students with sensory processing needs and communication strategies (e.g., PECS, visuals)

Working with teachers and therapists to monitor progress and contribute to personalised support plans

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
