The role
As a Business Planning Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our strategic planning function, supporting the development and maintenance of the Submarine long term portfolio. This is a dynamic and high impact role where your insights will help shape decisions that affect national defence capabilities. You’ll be part of a team that drives organisational alignment and financial performance by linking strategic and operational planning, making a real difference to the business and your career.
Day-to-day, you’ll drive strategic planning by developing and managing the strategic submarine plans, collaborating across teams and delivering data led insights that inform high level decision making and continuous improvement.
1. Support the development and maintenance of demand and supply plans for the Submarine business
2. Capture and manage underlying assumptions, risk and change control records
3. Provide strategic updates and reports to senior stakeholders
4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions
5. Use data-driven insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Business Planning Specialist
6. Experience in planning or programme management within a fast paced, regulated environment
7. Ability to manage and manipulate large datasets for strategic reporting
8. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
9. Analytical and numerate, with a keen eye for identifying opportunities and risks
10. Understanding of risk principles (advantageous)
Qualifications for the Business Planning Specialist
11. Educated to HNC level or equivalent experience
