Ward Sister / Charge Nurse Crisis Service Band 7
Adult mental health crisis inpatient services in the Western Health & Social Care Trust including integrated psychiatric intensive care are comprised of 30 beds in Carrick & Evish wards, Grangewood Hospital and 26 beds in Elm & Lime wards at the Tyrone & Fermanagh Hospital. Acute in-patient services are an integral element of the Trust’s adult mental health crisis services which include crisis resolution and home treatment services, acute day care and crisis provision. These services operate in the context of the Regional Acute Mental Health Care Pathway (HSCB 2018).The post holder will be responsible for the effective management of their ward/department and be accountable for providing leadership to the nursing team. The post holder will be the line manager for the nursing team and have responsibility within the ward/department for ensuring that standards of care and practice are maintained, reviewed and continuously developed in line with Department of Health (DoH), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), HSC Trust policies, procedures and guidance.
Responsibilities
* Communicate effectively with staff and maintain productive working relationships amongst your staff and with others.
* Ensure safe and effective care and practice.
* Contribute to the delivery of the organisations objectives.
* Enhance the patients/clients experience.
* Ensuring that agreed professional and managerial standards, objectives and statutory requirements are met.
* Providing leadership, clinical expertise, and ensuring the delivery of evidence-based and person-centred care.
* Managing the ward/department budget ensuring effective and efficient use of physical, human and financial resources.
* The professional development and line management of the nursing team.
* Report and record all accidents, untoward incidents, sickness & absence, within your area of responsibility, using appropriate forms.
Skills and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the live NMC Register (Mental Health Branch).
* Have a Nursing Degree and 3 years post registration experience within Adult Mental Health services.
* Holder of a post-graduate diploma or equivalent qualification in relevant in Mental Health Nursing specialism (e.g. CBT/Psychosocial Interventions).
* A post-graduate diploma in managing health and social services.
