A Personal Assistant is sought by a lady from Llanfallteg Whitland to work 16 hours per week to support her to go out, join local groups (Whitland, Narberth) and re-engage with the community. The role includes encouragement and reassurance to meet new people and socialise.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
* Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
* Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
* Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
* Providing companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and social interaction
* Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
* Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during working hours
* Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours
* Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act
* Being mindful of safeguarding issues and feeding any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751)
* Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
Relationships / Communication
* Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer
* Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner
* Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary
Job Working Environment
Working in the employer’s home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills
* Caring, patient and friendly
* Responsible, reliable and honest
* Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
* Good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives
* Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements
* Ability to keep simple records such as time recording
* Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required
* Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers
* A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance
* You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
* Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employer’s needs
