English Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Liverpool)
Milk Education is working closely with a welcoming secondary school in Liverpool who are seeking a passionate English Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils in developing their literacy, reading and writing skills while gaining valuable classroom experience.
The Role:
As an English Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the English department to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will provide targeted academic support, help manage classroom behaviour and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support students in English lessons, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
2. Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
3. Help pupils develop reading comprehension, writing and communication skills
4. Support students with additional learning needs (SEND/EAL where applicable)
5. Encourage student engagement and confidence in English
6. Assist with preparation of learning materials and resources
The Ideal Candidate:
7. A strong interest in English, education or working with young people
8. Experience working with children or young adults (school-based experience desirable)
9. GCSE English (Grade C/4 or above) – essential
10. A patient, positive and proactive attitude
11. Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff
12. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
