We are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join welcoming and inclusive schools across East London, including Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, and Redbridge. This is an excellent opportunity for an LSA who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing, particularly those with additional needs.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to support pupils’ learning across the curriculum. You will provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping pupils to engage, progress, and thrive within a nurturing classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups under the direction of the class teacher
* Assist in delivering planned learning activities, adapting support to meet individual needs
* Promote positive behaviour and inclusion in line with school policies
* Support literacy, numeracy, and the use of ICT in the classroom
* Assist pupils with special educational needs, ensuring access to learning
* Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
* Support pupils’ personal, social, and emotional wellbeing
* Assist with classroom resources, displays, educational visits, and supervision duties where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience working with children in a school or early years setting
* An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Learning Support / Early Years (desirable)
* A good understanding of SEN, child development, and behaviour management
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Basic ICT skills and the ability to support learning through technology
* A calm, patient, and positive approach
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
