Youth Connect South West is a young people's charity working in Bath and North East Somerset and the surrounding area. We support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow and become the people they want to be.
We are seeking two dedicated and passionate Inclusive Learning Tutors to join our Alternative Education Team. One post will be focused on English and another for Maths. You will also be delivering functional skills qualifications to NEET young people who receive support in our other programme.
You will work with young people aged 16-25 with SEND who cannot access mainstream education, providing lessons in English or Mathematics and supporting curriculum planning. This role involves delivering lessons independently, assisting qualified tutors, and covering for other tutors when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs (SEN)
* Assist in planning and delivering lessons, including adapting materials to meet diverse learning needs
* Plan and deliver lessons independently for specific subjects or student groups
* Lead small group instruction and provide one-on-one support as needed
* Cover classes in the absence of other tutors, following pre-prepared lesson plans
* Help manage student behaviour and maintain a conducive learning environment
* Support the assessment, recording and reporting of student progress
* Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies regarding student progress and issues
* Assist with the organisation of learning activities and resources
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
* Support the delivery of examinations and transition of students on and off YCSW programmes
Qualifications and Experience:
* English and Maths at grade 4 (previously C grade) or functional skills Level 2
* Qualifications in education, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning
* Experience in supporting students in a further education setting, particularly those with SEN
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is advantageous for those planning and delivering lessons independently
