Role: Activities Coordinator Location: Cedar Lodge, Taunton Hours: 30.25 hours per week on average, including alternate weekends. Working a mixture of 09.00-16.00, 09.00-13.00, 09.00-17.00 and 11.00-17.00 shifts. Salary: £12.00 per hour ( £2.00 per hour overtime) Cedar Lodge Dementia Residential Home are recruiting for an experienced Activities Coordinator who can plan and provide meaningful, fun and varied activities for the residents living at the care home. This is an exciting role where each day is different. An important part of your role is to get to know the residents, to create tailored and personalised activities to fulfil their needs. Your primary focus is to promote and ensure a stimulating environment in which their emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs are met. We are looking for someone who is outgoing, motivated and personable, who genuinely cares about the lives of other people. Someone who can work to their own initiative and think 'outside of the box'. Someone who is a strong team player, who will strive to provide residents with the best quality care for every part of every day. Duties include: Producing a weekly activities plan for the care home and updating the activities file. Organising group and personalised activities to fulfil the residents needs. This includes outings in the community, driving company vehicles therefore a driving licence is essential Carrying out risk assessments ahead of activities and outings Keeping records and care plans up to date Assisting with producing monthly newsletters and photographing events within the home Plus additional administrative tasks as per the job description. An example of what you could be doing: Engaging on a one to one level with each resident, this might be; completing a crossword together, communicating through the power of music or helping a resident to fold their laundry whilst having a chatter Setting up smaller group activities, finding common interests amongst the residents, this might be; flower arranging, playing a game of cards or quite simply having a pie and a pint reminiscing about the old times Hosting themed days and events, this might be; having a summer BBQ, or arranging a Christmas party Community engagement, connecting the residents to the local community based on their hobbies, interests and needs. This might be; working with the local dementia friends club or finding a local historian to provide a talk at the home. The Requirements: You will hold a full UK drivers’ licence and be willing to driving our company minibus Experience in similar setting is required A level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care is desirable. Must be willing to work towards.
