JOB TITLE – Electrical Improver LOCATION - Aldermaston DEPARTMENT - Aldermaston POSITION - Staff CLEARANCE - DV ​ Working at NSG NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. If joining us as a member of staff, we will support your professional development in an exciting and challenging work environment that will enable you to use, develop and hone your technical expertise in a supportive and collaborative working environment. ​​ The Role ​ To competently perform the duties of an electrical improver as part of a team engaged in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, testing and trials of all types of systems and equipment as instructed by Project Manager / Supervisor / Lead Electrical Technician / Project Engineer, in accordance with relevant drawings and Safe Systems of Work. Key Objectives ​ Project Delivery and Operational Support ​ Perform tasks alongside the lead electrical technician encountered in activities such as: Installation Operations (including testing and trials) Maintenance and repair Carry out and support installation, modification, EMIT (examination, maintenance, inspection & test), decommissioning tasks as required Work with the electrical technician from schematics / diagrams / drawings to install equipment Assist with the Install of systems and equipment in such a way as to comply with any relevant regulatory or legislative requirements Complete and maintain as necessary all associated records and documentation ​ ​ Person Specification Qualifications ​ Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent training - essential City & Guilds Level 3 Certification in Electrical Engineering - desirable IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Qualification - desirable Test & inspection Qualification; City 7 Guilds 2391 - desirable GCSE at 'C' grade or above in English, Maths and in science or technical subject - desirable Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - desirable ECS/CSCS card for the relevant trade – essential Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent – Relevant training will be provided if required Experience & Knowledge ​ Experience in electrical installation, examination, maintenance, inspection & test, decommissioning - essential Familiar with site / factory work environments - essential Fully conversant with the IEE regulations - essential Work experience within engineering, science or construction environment - essential Familiar with working on nuclear licensed site or similar with specific hazards /operations - desirable Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - desirable Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc - desirable Familiar with AWE electrical procedures - desirable Appointment as AWE NP(E - desirable Skills & Abilities ​ Competent user of MS Office – essential Able to demonstrate the understanding, interpretation and application of electrical drawings and specifications - essential Able to read and write messages, interpret and carry out instructions - essential Maintain electrical records and documents in a readable format – essential Use of hand and power tools for electrical installation, examination, maintenance, inspection and test - essential Able to work well as team member - essential Maintenance of database and physical records and files - desirable Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors - desirable Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001 - desirable ​ ​ All applicants must have DV Security Level Clearance.
