Offer description

In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the EMHP/CWP role is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

The MHST is an arm of the well-established Well-being and Mental Health Service (WAMHS), embedded in schools across City & Hackney supporting schools to implement whole school approaches to mental health. WAMHS have laid the foundations for the MHST to be able to build on whole school approaches as well as provide direct support for children, young people and parents through workshops and guided self-help interventions for young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

The successful post holder/s will join our existing multidisciplinary team of EMHPs, CAMHS Practitioners, Educational Psychologists and trainee EMHPS, and play a key role in supporting local schools' overarching approach to providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people.

Main duties of the job

This is a role within the Green Paper for Transforming children and young people's mental health programme. The post holder will work within the City & Hackney Mental Health Support in Schools team, which is part of the wider Specialist CAMHS. This team has a specific focus on early intervention and prevention within the school context involving both whole school and individual approaches. The post holder will deliver, under supervision, high-quality, outcome-informed, focused, evidence‑based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. The post involves provision of low‑intensity interventions (one to one, group and workshops) to children, young people and their parents. Practitioners will develop an active presence within school settings. Alongside senior members of the MHST and the Well‑being and Mental health In schools Service, practitioners will contribute to the development of the Whole School Approach in schools. The post holder will work in collaboration with other members of the MHST and, where appropriate, with members of the wider multidisciplinary team and signpost families to appropriate support. Finally, to contribute where appropriate, to service development and consultation to the wider MHST professional networks.
