A specialist SEN school near Reading is seeking a committed and resilient SEN Class Teacher to join its dedicated team. The school supports pupils with diagnosed SEN, ranging from moderate learning difficulties (MLD) to severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Many pupils also have additional needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, sensory impairments, and physical difficulties.
The Role
As an SEN Class Teacher, you will lead a class of pupils with complex SEN needs, delivering highly differentiated and individualised teaching to support progress in learning, communication, independence, and emotional development.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering personalised SEN learning programmes
Leading the classroom and managing SEN support staff effectively
Tracking pupil progress against EHCP outcomes and SEN targets
Contributing to annual reviews and written reports
Creating a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
Supporting pupils with communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation needs
Working collaboratively with families and multi-disciplinary professionals
Contributing to wider key stage and whole-school SEN development
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience working with pupils with SEN
Strong understanding of differentiated and inclusive teaching approaches
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and staff
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
