Job Purpose / Overview
The NNB Surveillance Field Engineer will be an expert in their field, part of a team of Field Engineers responsible for Construction Surveillance activities. The team’s primary role is to deliver NEC Supervisor duties per the NEC contract and ensure quality standards are met.
Principal Accountabilities
The Field Engineer oversees quality compliance within their designated section of the Works, reporting to the Construction Superintendent. They will coordinate with other site teams, adhere to company policies, and suggest improvements. Responsibilities include:
1. Checking the Works are constructed according to the contract and reporting non-conformance.
2. Submitting details of non-conformance requests.
3. Maintaining communication with site teams and reporting surveillance activities.
4. Supporting KPI data collection.
5. Implementing temporary measures to ensure safety and quality, escalating issues as needed.
6. Providing insights into current and future site activities.
7. Ensuring tasks meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
8. Reviewing contractor performance against Quality Control Plans.
9. Making autonomous decisions with minimal supervision.
10. Leading by example.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should have broad construction knowledge, expertise in NEC ECC and FIDIC contracts, management skills, and experience on major projects. Key requirements include:
1. Strong organizational, delegation, and communication skills.
2. Experience in writing accurate, relevant diaries.
3. Experience working within large construction teams.
4. Experience with large Civil Works, Mechanical, or Electrical installations.
5. Understanding of CDM Regulations and document/drawing approval processes.
6. Excellent English communication skills; French knowledge is a plus.
7. HND or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
8. Experience using electronic devices for data capture.
9. Willingness to attend and pass the HPC Clerk of Works course.
