Overview
We are advertising for Trust Doctors at the registrar (ST3+) level at The Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
Start Dates
Start dates are from August onwards.
Training & Education
The posts are intended to provide additional experience in various general surgical specialties to enable progression into a formal NTN for general surgical training. Although not a recognised training post, there are considerable training and educational opportunities for the successful candidates. There is a comprehensive induction course and regular weekly teaching with the intention that the service commitment, supervision level and educational opportunities will be equivalent to that of our existing trainees.
Work Hours
This is a full‑time post with basic hours of 40 hours per week. Applicants wishing to work part‑time are also encouraged to apply; rosters will be adjusted accordingly and by negotiation with appointees.
Responsibilities
Speciality registrars will be expected to participate in ward rounds, clinics and operating theatres. The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties on the emergency take and in unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with senior colleagues.
Hospital Environment
The department is part of a busy district general hospital and performs around 190 emergency laparotomies, 150 elective colorectal resections, over 100 bariatric operations and over 500 laparoscopic cholecystectomies per year, and has a busy and active elective breast surgical practice.
