Randstad are recruiting for an MEP Construction Manager to work on a major Baggage Handling Facility at Heathrow Airport.
This is a freelance contract position expected to last into May 2026.
The MEP construction Manager will oversee all MEP works within the baggage programme, working closely with the works management team and co-ordinating all works to meet the required project programmes. The role requires collaboration with internal supply chain, HAL supply chain and HAL project management team.
The MEP Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring all internal and client processes and procedures are followed to deliver the works safely and ensure the works are assured through to handover. As part of the role, the MEP Construction Manager will be required to coordinate with HAL Tier 1 suppliers, to ensure that all of their works are fully coordinated and integrated to operate as a system.
Lead and coordinate the development of MEP proposals, ensuring alignment and consistency across all project functions and disciplines. Facilitate clear communication and understanding of these proposals within the Tranche 4 delivery teams.
Manage the MEP supply team-including subcontractors, alliance partners, and third parties-while upholding health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. Support programme updates and project reporting, providing regular updates to the Senior Leadership Team and participating in client meetings to communicate MEP requirements effectively.
Drive the development and execution of MEP mobilisation activities, and assist in procurement processes by identifying long-lead and high-risk packages to secure timely delivery aligned with client and project needs.
Ensure strict adherence to Safety Management plans for Electrical, Mechanical, and Testing & Commissioning activities. Oversee temporary site services and support interface management in collaboration with the Stakeholders Manager.
Champion the adoption and monitoring of Heathrow's values and behaviours throughout the project.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems including management,, construction, quality, testing, commissioning and handover.
A professional qualification Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject
Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skillsHIGHLY DESIRABLE SKILLS
Experience of delivering MEP works on a major rail / aviation project
Experience of Early Contractor Involvement models and NEC forms of contract
Knowledge of industry regulations for design, construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).
Expert knowledge of products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
Experience of a self-assurance contract environment
