Service Engineer (Field/Mobile Mechanic/Vehicle Technician)

Salary: GBP 31,000 - GBP 40,500

The Service Engineer (Field) role is suitable for engineers from various backgrounds such as plant, forklifts, HGV, agricultural, or similar equipment. It is also an excellent opportunity for vehicle technicians seeking to transition into a new industry, as the company provides full training. Candidates should demonstrate mechanical service and repair skills, with preferably some engine diagnostic and basic electrical skills.
The company manufactures forklift trucks. As part of a local team, you will be responsible for scheduled maintenance and breakdown coverage on forklifts and related equipment in Kettering, Corby, and Wellingborough. No overnight stays or extensive travel are required. Overtime is available mainly during weekdays.
The Service Engineer (Field) Role In Brief
1. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs on materials handling machinery as a field service engineer.
2. Respond to reactive breakdowns within the assigned geographical area.
3. Complete comprehensive training to become fully competent with all machinery and equipment.
4. Spare parts are delivered to the van overnight.
The Person Required
1. Experience with plant, forklifts, HGV, agricultural, or similar equipment; automotive technicians/motor trade background also suitable.
2. Engine diagnostics and basic electrical skills.
3. Ideally hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject.
