Job Summary
The Great Western Hospital is pleased to offer an opportunity for Stroke Medicine Consultants to join the existing team.
Are you looking to start your career as a Consultant in a supportive and caring Stroke Service, or are you an existing Consultant seeking a new challenge where you can make a difference? We are a supportive, close-knit team focused on providing the best care to our patients, and we welcome applicants with experience in Stroke Medicine from GIM, Stroke, or Neurology backgrounds.
The successful candidate will work closely with the current team to enhance stroke pathways and improve SSNAP performance, prioritizing patient and family care.
Location
The Stroke/Neurology team is based in the Betjeman Centre at GWH, which includes outpatient clinics, a day hospital, therapy centre, and office space. There is also an on-site rehabilitation service provided by SWICC.
Main Duties
* Participate in multidisciplinary team working and regular discussions
* Provide evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting
* Manage patient care responsibilities, including administrative duties (with secretarial support)
* Develop subspecialty interests aligned with division needs
* Contribute to teaching, examinations, and medical education activities
* Cover for colleagues' leave as per Trust policies
* Engage in clinical audit and continuing medical education
* Participate in out-of-hours rota as detailed in the job plan

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
Experience
* UK CCT or equivalent in stroke medicine or related specialty
* Expertise in stroke medicine
Teaching & Research
* Ability to teach clinical skills to trainees and multidisciplinary teams
* Leadership skills in multidisciplinary settings
* Peer-reviewed publications
