We are a ten doctor NHSGeneral Practice based in Handforth, Cheshire, with a list size ofapproximately 10500 patients. We are a training practice for GP trainees, andFY2 doctors.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to and join our dynamic and friendly team of three practice nurses and two health careassistants. Previous experience is essential and on going training will be provided for the successful candidate from our outstandingclinical staff.
We are a friendly forward thinking practice with an excellent nursing team, stable admin team, high QOF achievement, CQC rated good, EMIS web, paperlight and Docman with opportunity for personal development.
25 hours per week
Main duties of the job
The candidate will be required to :-
Undertake phlebotomy clinics
Undertake specific HCA clinics as required including BP monitoring, Health checks, ECG, B12, Influenza/pneumonia vaccinations.
To be responsible for day to day general treatment duties/stocking and cleaning of clinical areas and ordering supplies.
To work with the nursing team to develop the service to meet the future needs of the practice in providing treatment, disease prevelance and health promotion services.
Performing day to day duties normally expected of a HCA and reporting back to named staff.
Expected to maintain own skills and knowledge necessary to perform the job.
Attend away days as necessary for mandatory training
Attend study days as necessary to update and increase knowledge and skills

Ear Syringing
Assisting with Coils/Implants
Assisting with Minor ops
Ensure specimens are labelledand bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed

MAINPURPOSE
Toassist medical personnel in the care of practice patients to include treatment,preventative care, screening and patient education. The post will also include some limited administrativeduties.
Auniform and name badge must be worn at all times, which will be supplied by thepractice.
They will act as a focal point ofcommunication between patients, doctors, nurses and other members of theprimary health care team.
GENERAL
Tomaintain a safe and effective level of practice and to bring any deficits intraining to the attention of the manager so these can be addressed.
Theywill be required to act in a professional manner at all times and adhere topractice policies, protocols and guidelines.
Training
Trainingrequirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal. Personal development will be encouraged andsupported by the practice. Its theindividuals responsibility to remain up to date with recent developments.
Accountability
Althoughaccountable to the Partners of the practice through the Practice Manager asan employee, they are ultimately responsible for their own practice and mustensure that limitations are always acknowledged. Full training will be provided for anyclinical procedures.
Administration
Allrecords need to be kept clearly and legibly.Claims are an important part of practice income and are a priority,needing to be made correctly and accurately.A great deal of this work will be done on the computer.
Meetings
Itmay be necessary to attend various Practice meetings as requested. The only reason for not attending will beannual, study or sick leave.
Aswell as the nursing team, the nursing assistant will work closely withreception and dispensary staff and will be expected to communicate and liaisewith all other members of the Practice team.

Ensureaccurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patienthealthcare and registration with the practice
Ensurecollection and maintenance of statistical information required for regularand ad hoc reports
Managementof appointment system
Ensuretotal familiarity with all appointment systems including regular andincidental variations
Monitorflow of patients into the waiting room ensuring the appointment systemaccurately reflects the arrival of patients
Monitoreffectiveness of the system and report any problems or variations to the AssistantManager Receptionist
