About this role
Reporting to the Head of Legal & Business Affairs, this role provides key support to labels across the Scripted Hub.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career. As part of a fast-paced department, we are seeking a Paralegal to join the team as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal and business affairs, including contract work, preferably within the television industry. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload. A proactive, self-motivated approach and the confidence to work independently are also important for success in this role.
Duties
1. Dealing with Development and Production teams, being a first point of contact for legal & business affairs advice, assisting where possible, escalating where necessary.
2. Dealing with agents and commissioners.
3. Assisting with the negotiating and drafting of a range of development agreements such as pitch agreements, treatment agreements, and writers’ agreements with supervision.
4. Assisting with the negotiating and drafting of a variety of production contracts including cast and contributor agreements in addition to third party releases and location agreements under supervision.
5. Assisting with the reviewing of scripts, and locked cuts of episodes to identify clearance concerns and advise production and/or the development team accordingly.
6. Managing and updating production files and ensuring all legal documentation is signed and saved on the legal drive.
7. Updating and managing precedent agreements.
8. Maintaining legal databases, filing systems, status trackers and option diaries working closely with the Development Coordinator.
9. Managing the signature process for all agreements and circulating to the relevant people.
10. Liaising with finance to ensure invoices and payments are processed in a timely manner.
11. Providing general administration support to the legal department.
