Position Title: Commissioning Engineer – Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) – Nuclear and Defence
Location: Reading, Berkshire

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly competent Commissioning Engineer with a strong bias towards Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation (EC&I) disciplines to support critical infrastructure within the nuclear and defence sectors. This role requires hands-on involvement, technical precision, and a proactive approach to site-based commissioning activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on support to the Construction Manager during electrical installations
Supervise site-based EC&I works and report directly to the Commissioning Manager
Lead commissioning activities and system validations in accordance with project requirements
Develop and execute commissioning documentation including ITPs and as-built records
Sign off completed systems in line with regulatory and client standards
Perform system testing, fault-finding, and technical troubleshooting
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to ensure seamless project integration
PLC/SCADA (Siemens S7 – TIA Portal) configuration and diagnostics
Electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting in control panels
Instrument calibration and setup (pressure, flow, vacuum, pneumatics)
Load testing and functional performance validation
Qualifications and Certifications:
Time-served Engineering Apprenticeship
City & Guilds 2391-52 – Inspection and Testing
City & Guilds 2382-22 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Demonstrable experience delivering EC&I commissioning on nuclear and/or defence projects
Strong understanding of applicable UK regulations, standards, and site protocols
Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance

This is a long-term contract opportunity within one of the UK’s most high-profile and regulated engineering environments. Due to the nature of the project, candidates must hold current Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and also be eligible to obtain or renew DV clearance. Candidates must also have the right to work in the UK.
