The role

Find Your Superpower as an Energy Industry Lawyer at National Grid Ventures

The UK is on a bold journey to reach net zero by 2050, and National Grid Ventures (NGV) is at the heart of this transformation—developing first-of-their-kind projects and operating cutting-edge NetZero initiatives. To deliver on this ambition, we need talented, driven, and passionate people ready to tackle climate change head-on.

What You'll Be Getting Up To

This role will provide legal support on a wide-ranging portfolio of legal work relating to NGV's interconnectors. Such work will include:

A mix of commercial contract negotiations and drafting across a wide range of contracts which support NGV interconnector projects (these may include construction agreements utilising industry standard forms);
Regulatory and compliance advice in the context of a portfolio of licenced and regulated energy infrastructure assets;
Support with the management of long-term joint venture agreements, including associated governance arrangements
Support to the interconnectors land and consents teams in connection with the land rights associated with the interconnector portfolio and interactions with other land/asset owners

About You

Qualified solicitor or barrister with experience in commercial and/or construction law, acquired in private practice and/or within an in-house legal team
Ideally you will specifically have experience of providing commercial and regulatory advice in the energy infrastructure sector or a willingness to learn (regulatory training will be given where necessary).
Ideally you will have experience of Construction Law and ideally use of NEC and other standard forms.
Excellent communicator, also able to listen effectively in a team or business environment and build strong relationships.

Don't meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace for everyone. So, if you're excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don't match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.
