Our client, a leading company within the cross-sector geotechnical services industry, is currently seeking a motivated Engineering Geologist to join their team on a permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide onsite operational control for small contracts and support for medium to large contracts, focusing on safety, quality, cost control, and customer service.
Manage day-to-day activities of assigned staff and workload.
Assist with the production of Health, Safety & Environment documentation, quality plans, and works programme.
Organise and plan assigned tasks to ensure timely and safe completion.
Assist with equipment and materials procurement, ensuring prompt hire and return.
Prepare and submit internal HSE returns and other relevant reports.
Undertake and monitor various onsite contract activities including drilling, sampling, testing, grouting, and surveying.
Assist senior staff with technical outputs such as drilling logs, engineering logs, test results, and site monitoring records.
Monitor subcontractors' performance in terms of safety, productivity, quality, and programme compliance.
Assist with the compilation and submission of Application for Payment (AFP) for works.
Identify and manage changes affecting contract specification, programme, or activities.
Support cost control initiatives and notify managers of any significant impacts on the contract.
Attend internal contract review meetings and implement best practices.
Accurately complete and submit timesheets and ensure accurate recording of absences.
Perform other reasonable tasks to ensure business continuity.
Job Requirements:
Civil Engineering or Geology-related degree or equivalent qualification.
Good understanding of geotechnical processes.
Excellent written English skills and proficiency in letter writing.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and database maintenance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional approach with a customer-service focus.
Full UK driving licence.
Physical Working Environment:
The Engineering Geologist will be based in one of our client's regional offices, with responsibilities including ground investigation and grouting contracts as required by senior management. The role involves frequent travel throughout the UK, necessitating periods of site-based work where required.
