An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for this band 6 Specialist BMS role in the Haematology &Contrafusion Lab within the Hammersmith Hospital site of NWLP.
In this role, you would encounter a wide range of interesting cases daily; you would be part of the BMS team reporting on blood film morphology for a wide range of conditions. In our Blood Transfusion Department, you would be fully engaged with special requirement crossmatching to support our busy Clinical Haematology Unit. In Special Coagulation centralised on this site, you would be carrying out very specialist haemostasis analyses.
As an added responsibility, you would be the Department's Health and Safety Co-ordinator- Training would be provided for this additional task. The laboratory also operates a 24-hour-seven- day -a-week service and therefore full participation on the roster is required for all contractual Weekend (2-3 of these shifts per six-week rota) and Late evening shifts (2-3 of these per week).
It is an essential requirement that applicants are HCPC state registered with a significant post registration experience in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.

Person Specification
Education
* Biomedical Science degree or equivalent which is acceptable by the IBMS /HPC for registration
* HCPC Registration and clear understanding of Code of Conduct and Professional Standards of the HCPC
* IBMS Specialist Diploma or demonstrate the equivalent depth and breadth of knowledge in the relevant discipline evidenced by competency documents or equivalent
* Actively involved in Continuing Professional Development
Skills
* Good practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic laboratory work
* Good interpretive skills at bench level
* Able to prioritise work according to demand and urgency
* Ability to work both individually and as part of a team
* Customer Service experience
Experience
* A good working knowledge of specialist subject in relevant discipline
