Training & Risk Specialist – Medical Engineering
Salary: £40,000 (more negotiable DOE) + private healthcare + company vehicle + benefits
Location: WFH + Frequent National Travel
Contract: FTC up to 12 months, with strong potential to go permanent due to workload
The Opportunity
Provide specialist training and consultancy enabling the safe use and management of medical gases and associated systems across the healthcare sector. Deliver training, site audits, risk management services and authorising assessments for NHS and private hospitals – ensuring compliance with HTM 02 and other healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver revenue-generating, customer-facing training and consultancy (~90% of time)
* Project manage the delivery of risk management and training: site surveys, audits, risk assessments, reports and recommendations
* Deliver on-site training courses, including Medical Gas Safety, Authorised Person, Competent Person, Designated Nursing Officer and Cryogenic Nitrogen – full training provided
* Manage projects end-to-end including planning, phasing, scheduling, resourcing and documentation
* Support compliance with Care Quality Commission, Department of Health, HTM and relevant standards/codes of practice
* Build relationships with NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers to grow training and risk services
* Work with account managers and technical teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
* Help develop risk-management tools, processes and documentation; produce high-quality technical reports after site work.
Candidate Profile
* Ideally an authorised person or a strong working knowledge in an engineering field/discipline
* HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
* Experience in risk management, safety auditing and report writing
* Engaging trainer/presenter with excellent communication and facilitation skills
* Understanding of medical gas pipeline systems and associated equipment – not essential
* Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office; ability to interpret AutoCAD is an advantage)
* Full UK driving licence – regular site travel required
Desirable
* 3+ years’ experience in medical gas, pressure systems or related engineering disciplines
* Member of IHEEM – not essential
* PTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification – not essential
* Background in HSE, engineering, pressure systems or hospital compliance
