Overview
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for new visa sponsorship applications therefore you must already have the right to work in the UK in order to apply.
Role summary: As a Community Support Worker within the Safeguarding Team, you will be triaging Safeguarding referrals, carrying out initial information gathering to determine if a Section 42 needs to be progressed, and conducting Safeguarding enquiries. You will work with an office-based team in a hybrid pattern and may undertake visits to people in their own homes, in hospital settings, or wherever the person feels most comfortable to meet you.
The purpose of the Safeguarding Adult Team is to ensure a consistent and timely approach to applying safeguarding thresholds, identifying and addressing immediate risk, and establishing the outcomes of the person involved, in line with Making Safeguarding Personal principles. The focus is on making safeguarding personal and keeping the service user at the centre of the enquiry. You will provide short-term intervention (usually 3 working days) during which you will aim to make enquiries to enable you to:
Responsibilities
* Apply safeguarding thresholds
* Identify and take steps to address any immediate risk
* Meet or discuss with the person involved to establish their outcomes in relation to the safeguarding enquiry
* Where there are any doubts about the person\'s capacity to consent to the enquiry, advise on outcomes and undertake a mental capacity assessment and, if necessary, best interest decisions
* Establish who is involved with the person\'s care and who needs to be involved in the enquiry
* Hold a strategy meeting or discussion
* Have relevant experience of working with adults in a social care setting and with other agencies within a fieldwork environment
* Understand the need to undertake need and risk assessments and the issues/needs that adults and their families/carers may have
* Have a good understanding of social care organisations and their roles within the wider community and voluntary sector
* Be a confident communicator skilled in negotiation, persuasion, assertiveness, and conflict management, and able to build effective working relationships
* Recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility, and seek appropriate support and advice when required
* Be able to manage a caseload and work to clear objectives
