Job Description:
Job purpose
We are seeking a motivated and charismatic individual to join our admissions team on a full-time basis. This role will primarily focus on student recruitment, particularly engaging with prospective students from countries in Africa and the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have sales experience, be willing to travel to African and Middle Eastern countries regularly, and be fluent in Arabic, with fluency in other languages being desirable.
Beyond recruitment, this role involves maintaining strong relationships with the students you have recruited, as well as their families, once they join Ashbourne. The successful candidate will help ensure a consistent cohort of 25 students from Africa and the Middle East at the college while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
About Ashbourne
Established over 40 years ago, Ashbourne has become one of the best private colleges for A levels in the UK. It distinguishes itself through exam results, individual attention, and facilities, aiming to be the best overall college for A levels in the UK.
Ethos and culture
At Ashbourne, there are no uniforms, no assemblies, no school dinners, and the relations between teachers and students are informal, vital, and strong. This environment is encouraged by the lack of formality and small class sizes that promote engagement.
Unusually for a private college, Ashbourne is selective; most importantly, the college reserves the right to deny progression from year 12 to year 13 if students have not reached high academic standards. All students are expected to work hard and do their best, with a ‘100%’ homework submission rule and a shared ethos of aiming high.
About the College
Sixth form college – most students are at A level, seeking a more mature approach to education with more freedom and responsibility. The environment is informal, with relations with teachers characterized by ease and openness.
Academic performance – consistently among the top private colleges in London, and in the top 5% of schools and colleges by value-added.
Individual attention – small class sizes and personal tutors support student engagement and monitor academic progress.
Welfare – support services and strict policies against bad behavior, bullying, and abuse contribute to student success.
Location – near Kensington Gardens, within easy reach of London’s cultural opportunities.
Ashbourne community – diverse, with 70% British and up to 50 nationalities, offering a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities.
Academic opportunities – diverse subjects including arts, humanities, sciences, and economics.
Extra-curricular opportunities – activities like Model United Nations, astrophysics, and performing arts.
Intensive courses – two-year A level courses, with options for intensive and short courses.
Scholarships – generous programs supporting academically talented students, especially in music and drama.
Happiness – a supportive environment free of cliques and snobbery.
