The pay range for this role will be £26,403 – £31,537 (pro rata for part time colleagues)

Main Responsibilities
To perform grounds maintenance tasks as instructed to deliver well-maintained, safe, and attractive parks, public spaces, cemeteries, and other areas maintained by BCP Council. The role will work as part of a team under the guidance of more senior colleagues.
Perform pre-determined routine grounds maintenance activities to ensure a safe, clean, and accessible environment. This may include minor landscape construction works or greenspace infrastructure repairs as well as carrying out more skilled horticultural activities such as planting and pruning, and grass maintenance as instructed
Utilise provided IT equipment to record grounds maintenance progress.
Set up and take down equipment and help prepare sites for events and activities so that sites are fit for purpose.
Drive and operate departmental vehicles, tools, equipment such as mini-excavators, compact tractors and ride-on mowers as required.
Carry out necessary checks of equipment and facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness, escalating issues as required.
Respond to simple enquiries or questions from members of the public so that they have a positive experience, reporting more complex issues when necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
NVQ Level 2 or RHS equivalent in Landscaping, Horticulture, or related area and/or equivalent broad knowledge and experience.
Driving licence, plus relevant NPTC/LANTRA machinery operation certification.
PA1 and PA6A certification for pesticide spraying.
Cemetery operatives at this level will require a Cemetery Operative Training Scheme qualification
Extensive experience in delivering general grounds maintenance related tasks and operating relevant machinery and small plant.
Extensive experience in delivering horticultural and/or landscape construction and repair tasks.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and members of the public.
Ability to reprioritise and respond to changing need effectively to deliver allocated and defined tasks.
