East Lindsey District Council is delighted to be recruiting a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Key responsibilities
* Managing Disabled Facilities Grants and Discretionary Housing Assistance Grants and loans in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance, and council policies.
* Providing clear advice to members of the public on the options available to help them maintain independence in their homes.
* Supporting applicants throughout the process, including undertaking home visits and liaising with landlords to obtain consent for works where required.
* Working collaboratively with contractors, Occupational Therapists, and clients to ensure adaptations are suitable, safe, and effective.
About you
* You will have experience working with older people and/or people with disabilities, or bring relevant transferable experience, alongside a strong commitment to delivering high‑quality services.
* You will have practical knowledge of domestic construction, including the ability to identify hazards and work towards appropriate, safe solutions.
* You are well organised, customer‑focused, and able to manage your own caseload effectively.
* You can adapt to a varied and sometimes unpredictable workload, including unplanned site visits, and work confidently as part of a busy, supportive team.
* You have strong communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with a diverse range of customers and with internal and external stakeholders.
* You value teamwork and will be comfortable working closely with Occupational Therapists, clinicians, contractors, partner organisations, and colleagues across the council, sharing information and supporting others as needed.
* Experience using CAD is desirable but not essential.
