Who You Are You are a dedicated Principal Social Worker who focuses on both case management and supervisory responsibilities. You are capable of managing complex caseloads, primarily involving children who are subject to care proceedings, while demonstrating experience in assessing, care planning, and reviewing cases. You have the ability to lead and support a team of social work assistants and lesser experienced staff, ensuring a supportive and positive work environment. What the Job Involves This role includes being a case-holding social worker for approximately 10-11 children who are subject to care proceedings. Responsibilities cover all aspects of case management, including statutory visiting, court proceedings, and care planning. Additionally, you will support decision-making regarding children's care status and work to assess current risks and protective factors. Your role also involves supervising and supporting a team, conducting monthly supervision, chairing strategy meetings, and providing robust oversight of care plans. Skills Experience with care proceedings and family assessments Strong analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills Knowledge of Department of Health Framework, NSPCC Reunification framework, and Signs of Safety methodologies Understanding of trauma impacts and parental capacity evaluations Ability to engage with and tailor assessments to learning styles Supervisory and mentoring capabilities Performance management and quality assurance skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Advanced IT and data recording skills Welsh language skills (preferred)
