Voltempo is pioneering ultra-fast charging solutions for commercial vehicles, including our
DC HyperCharger MCS (Megawatt Charging System). We lead the UK Government's
eFreight2030 programme (www.efreight2030.com), deploying the first eHGV depot charging
network in collaboration with logistics operators, truck OEMs and support partners. Our
patented technology and end-to-end services, from site design and grid connection to
commissioning, maintenance and data services, are driving the electrification of transport
logistics across the UK and internationally.
About the Role
Voltempo are actively engaged with fleet operators and their customers across retail and
manufacturing, which we’d like to further grow, whilst also expanding our reach into new
sectors requiring charging solutions and services. This role will lead our business
development efforts to open new opportunities for Voltempo for vehicle electrification
charging and our end-to-end services – taking a strategic / consultative selling approach
from origination through to contract award. You will be a player in a fast-paced, start-up
environment, fostering collaboration across diverse sectors to drive growth and expand our
market presence. You will be supported by a specialist tendering function responsible for
developing bespoke engineering proposals and support their contract execution, and as
necessary providing competitor and market intel to support Product Management’s
development of new EV charging and integrated energy solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Identifying, prioritising and implementing go to market plan to win new business in
new market sectors.
• Pursuing new business opportunities within both new market sectors and logistics
areas, seeking to deploy EV charging solutions within their facilities/depots and
distribution routes.
• Manage the full bid lifecycle from opportunity identification to submission and
contract award – taking a strategic / consultative selling approach.
• Develop the bid strategy for identified tenders or direct proposals to meet client
needs – defining the winning strategy, key differentiators and value propositions, in
collaboration with the Commercial Team and Voltempo leadership.
• Coordinate internal teams to gather technical, commercial, and compliance inputs for
proposals – ensuring timelines/milestones defined, communicated and met.
• Preparing and delivering high quality presentations, engaging pitches and scoping
meetings with prospecting clients as you articulate the value of our EV charging
solutions and end-to-end services.
• Prepare and present regular sales reports, providing insights into business
development activities, market trends, and performance metrics.
Skills and capabilities:
• Proven experience in a sales / business development position, preferably within a
start-up environment selling engineered solutions
• Strong knowledge within EV and/or charging infrastructure sales, and ideally
experience selling to logistics or other non-passenger car businesses
• Good understanding of ‘solution selling’ and ability to develop winning bid strategies
and compelling proposals.
• Ability to develop pricing and cost models for proposals and input on pricing strategy.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams (sales, operations, technical, finance).
• Understanding of contractual terms and risk management.
• Strong project management and organisational skills and ability to thrive in a fast
paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and bids under tight
deadlines.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Proactivity - you will continually push for more and suggest and implement processes
and ways of working to be better
• Proficiency in tools such as Salesforce CRM system desirable.
