Role:IT Manager Backup, Storage & Virtualisation (Contract)
Location: Fully Remote (occasional UK travel)

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role where youll take ownership of storage, backup, and virtualisation platforms supporting large-scale, business-critical environments.
What Youll Be Doing
* Leading and mentoring a team of infrastructure engineers
* Acting as the technical SME across storage, backup, and virtualisation
* Driving VMware optimisation and cost reduction initiatives (key focus)
* Supporting and delivering migration of workloads away from VMware
* Ensuring platform stability, performance, security, and compliance
* Working closely with cloud teams across Azure and GCP
* Defining and implementing technology roadmaps and strategy
* Driving automation, standardisation, and operational efficiency
* Acting as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues
What Were Looking For
1. Strong experience with VMware (vSphere/VCF/enterprise environments)
2. Experience with alternative virtualisation platforms (KVM, Hyper-V, Nutanix)
3. Proven background in enterprise storage solutions (e.g. Pure, HPE, NetApp)
